Extra Action Marching Band
Extra Action Marching Band
Extra Action Marching Band is a long-standing Bay Area musical performance group made up of a drum corps, brass section and flag/dance team. 22 members strong, we’ll be taking the stage throughout the Pacific Northwest this June on a mission to win new hearts and blow new minds.

Our music is a radical blend of multiple genres, bent and re-shaped into a militant signature sound that is hard-hitting, explosive, obtrusive and blunt. Our performance style is artfully disruptive. Here’s how others have characterized it:

“Cabaret flair crossed with paradiddle glee and wheezing horns — it's John Philip Sousa's nightmare, the stifled band geek's dream, and an ensemble format typically associated with militarism and authority twisted into the service of chaos.” – East Bay Express

"The wireless, untethered energy they [Extra Action] bring is impressive.... a drunken mastery of performance and the dark arts of showmanship..." -S.F. Bay Guardian

“Their live performances make freak shows at Coney Island seem dull.” –MTV

"You will be hard pressed to find a more perfect representation of the Oakland underground. Seemingly from out of the post-apocalyptic desert they appear in the crowd lead by an ominous flag-waving sentinel. The punked-out Extra Action dancing girls and the tribal drum-line churn the crowd into a fervor. Huge drum core beats and horns thrown high, moving through the room turning everyone into believers.” -San Francisco Examiner

Extra Action has collaborated with David Byrne and Arcade Fire, and has performed with Rebirth Brass Band, Crash Worship, Modest Mouse, the Master Musicians of Jajouka, Ween, the Killers, Boban Markovich, John Prine, Extreme Elvis, and MDC. We have performed at such venues as The Hollywood Bowl, The Knitting Factory, Spiegeltent, The Fusion Festival (Germany), Rock For People Festival (Czech Republic), The Mountain Aire Festival, a carwash on Melrose Avenue, The Fillmore, Guca (a Roma brass festival in Serbia), La Contessa, Shoreline Amphitheatre, Motorship Stubnitz, S.F. Gay Pride parade and numerous anti-war protests.
Jessie Evans
Jessie Evans
Jessie Evans is a Californian born singer, saxophonist, and visual artist currently living in Brazil. Fan of the English ska bands The Selecter and The Specials, Jessie learned to play saxophone and moved to San Francisco as a teenager, forming the all girl new wave quartet Subtonix. Shortly after, she began singing and playing bass and started the The Vanishing. In 2004 she moved to Berlin where she formed the synthetic duet Autonervous with Bettina Koester of the 80’s German all girl dark wave Malaria! During that time she also collaborated with Glass Candy, Hanin Elias (Atari Teenage Riot), and Lydia Lunch.

On her first two solo albums she played most the instruments and invited an array of friends to join. In 2009, "Is it Fire?" was be recorded in Mexico and co-produced by Pepe Mogt of Nortec Collective. This album feat. Budgie (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Martin Wenk (Calexico) and longtime drummer Toby Dammit (Iggy Pop). Her second album "Glittermine" was produced between Los Angeles, Berlin and Sao Paulo and feat. Steve Mackay (Iggy and The Stooges), Warrior Queen (Jamaica), Jimi Tenor (Finland) and King Khan (Berlin). In 2013, Jessie moved to Sao Paulo where she met an Angolan Freestyle singer named Pitshu and two Dub producers: Victor Rice (NYC) and Kas Dub (Sao Paulo). The result was the album “In love with Jessie & Pitshu” a dub record with influences from Ska, Kuduro, Jazz and pop.

Jessie’s new album “Heartwave” was released on June 21, 2019. Produced by Younick ( Paris) the record mixes new wave, synth pop and indi with strings, Brazilian percussion, sax, flute and acoustic guitar to create a lush mix of intergalactic vamp and cosmic wave.
Kitten Forever
Kitten Forever
Kitten Forever is a Minneapolis-based drums and bass trio. Corrie Harrigan, Laura Larson, and Liz Elton have been playing music together for over 10 years. The trio trades off duties on each instrument, giving equal time on drums, bass, and vocals to everyone. This democratic approach to performing and song writing gives the band a unified front, deconstructing traditional stage hierarchy, as well as a diverse set of perspectives, with unique sounds and styles for each performer. Their fuzzed out, caustic, party punk is inspired by equal parts friendship and feminism, using a stripped down aesthetic to showcase big emotions. A band of bratty banshee best friends, Kitten Forever believes in each other, pets, magic, and you.

Kitten Forever’s 3rd full length album, 7 Hearts, will see release spring 2016 on Atlas Chair Records.

7 Hearts - Full Length (Atlas Chair Records) 2016
