Veins
Veins
Veins is a Bay Area garage rock band. Michael Bang and Jeff Mark (two members of indie rock band The Riot Professor) play energetic guitar and drum music with strong melodies and off kilter songwriting. Inspired by the driving power of punk and indie rock, as well as the riffs of classic rock, the music of Veins catapults you into places both familiar and unusual. According to The Deli SF, “Their self-titled EP drones in a way you can bang your head to, on tracks like the opener “Bipolar By Nature” (streaming below) that invite the listener into a washing machine of scudzy sounds that perfectly capture the angst of the Bay Area scene.” Influences can heard from The White Stripes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Ty Segall, and while you’re never quite sure where their music is going to go, it always goes somewhere awesome.
The Heartlights
The Heartlights
The Heartlights from Oakland, Calif. blend power pop punk with thumping garage guitars and female vocals. They bring something fresh to the genre with their take on songwriting, layering a mix of sweet—and sometimes self-deprecating—lyrics over catchy, toe-tapping rhythms. The band’s humor and high energy in both their live performances and recordings ensure everyone has a good time. And, according to the band, that’s pretty much the point.
The Tet Holiday
The Tet Holiday
The Tet Holiday is the Oakland, CA project of singer/songwriter Andrew Ledford, accompanied by Austin Gibbons (bass) and Brandon Farmer (drums). Swirling The Jesus and Mary Chain's noise-pop melodicism, Ride's shimmering dreamscapes, and Japandroids' pack-the-room punk energy with a healthy dose of loud-quiet-LOUD, The Tet Holiday balances bittersweet introspection with anthemic, crushing rock ‘n roll.
Pout House
Pout House
Primarily influenced by early 2000s indie rock (à la The Strokes) Pout House staggers along the line of garage pop with a punk flair. Active since February 2018 the band self released "The Nancy Demos" followed by a two week tour of the mid-west and a slew of local shows opening up for such acts as Charly Bliss, Skating Polly, Katie Von Schleicher and a festival position opening for ALVVAYS. More tours and music is scheduled to be released in 2018 and beyond.
