Loretta Lynn Tribute Show
The Ivy Room Presents
an All-Star Tribute to the First Lady of Country Music!

Loretta Lynn's powerful pipes, truth-telling songs, and long and storied career have combined to make her country music's beloved matriarch and a living legend. Join us as we celebrate her music with a star-studded tribute night at the Ivy Room!
Laura Benitez and the Heartache
Laura Benitez and the Heartache
Laura Benitez and the Heartache use the three chord tools of country music to tell the simple, unvarnished truth about love, too much whiskey, and the call of the road. On their new album, "With All Its Thorns," they delve deeper into country music's tradition of storytelling with songs about betrayal ("Secrets"), murder ("In Red"), and grief ("Ghostship"), with a whole lot of heartbreak in between. John Amen of No Depression says, "With All Its Thorns shows Benitez and company claiming their place in a competitive genre in which success is often secured by those who can best reconcile emulation and originality; i.e., 'making it new,' but not too new... Benitez and the Heartache strike their own persuasive balance, offering songs that will engage conventionalists and hybridists alike; in the process, honing an undeniable presence that, with time, will only grow more finely tuned."

Misisipi Mike Wolf!
Misisipi Mike Wolf!
Misisipi Mike Wolf is the Northern California based/Mississippi & Louisiana Bayou raised singer, songwriter and studio/touring lead guitar player who, yes, spells that word wrong. And the reason why reaches back to his early days as a musician when he was equally interested in classic country music and burgeoning underground HipHop scene. His first professional work was a guitar player in various bands, before moving into songwriting for his own bands. Not long after he was named "Best Singer/Songwriter In The Bay" not once, but two years in a row by the San Francisco Bay Guardian. His music has been featured multiple times on many popular TV shows in the US and Canada, such as Justified, True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, Big Love to name just a few, as well as the series premier of the Amazon Series "The Man In The High Castle" (between Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald!" plus a handful of major theatrical releases. In 2017 Misisipi Mike had the honor of having a tribute album featuring only his compositions recorded and released by St. Louis, MO band The Cree Rider Family Band. Misisipi has toured Europe and the US many times and has fans from Japan to Germany, which has nothing to do with plot of The Man In The High Castle (I swear!) and has played his compositions for Jerry Brown, Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi. His bands have opened or shared bills with a wide variety of well known names like Emmylou Harris, Hooray For The Riff Raff, WEEN, The Cactus Blossom, Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters), Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins and many, many others. Misisipi Mike is also the touring lead guitar player for two nationally signed bands, Actual Wolf (Minnesota/Oakland) and The Easy Leaves (Sonoma), both of whom are generating a lot of buzz and have a busy schedule of local and national/international dates in 2018. He is sponsored by Monster Cable and EMG Guitar Pickups and is published by LoveCat Music (NYC).

Finally, Misisipi Mike Wolf is a well known and prolific gig poster artist, producing almost 700 posters for well known touring acts in the US and Europe and for a great number of SF Bay Area bands. And yes, he still spells that word that funny way.....
Nashville Honeymoon
Nashville Honeymoon
Born in a school auditorium in Berkeley, California and nurtured in live music venues on both sides of the Bay, Nashville Honeymoon is led by Hank Maninger and Lynne Maes, whose shared love of country music led to a creative partnership onstage and off.

Nashville Honeymoon’s music is a modern reworking of the classic country sounds of the 50s and 60s. Their songwriting draws on country, rockabilly, and honkytonk traditions. Hank and Lynne bring the best of traditional country duets to life, reminding listeners of George and Tammy, Loretta and Conway, Porter and Dolly, and Waylon and Jessi.

Heather Davison & Ari Fellows-Mannion (Loretta Lynch)
Loretta has blazed trails, having played San Francisco's acclaimed Great American Music Hall and Slim’s nightclubs, live radio performances (including twice on NPR’s West Coast Live), multiple appearances at England's famed Glastonbury Music Festival, and performances on the second stages at the Sleep Train Pavilion and Shoreline Amphitheatre opening for Alabama. Loretta Lynch appeared on NPR's 'Marketplace' website as one of the "Great Pop Music Artists of Today", and has lassoed a devoted and steadily growing local fan base.

Let this city quintet with the country heart break yours into tiny jagged pieces and lift it up again with the ease of a shot glass. It’s a little bit front stoop, a little bit backwoods, it’s the art motel on a long stretch of highway…it’s Loretta Lynch!

"Loretta Lynch plays the sort of California country-lover's country that has no past, as if it rolled in on a wave one day and set up shop. Buttery vocal harmonies and wary rhythms convey timeless tales about heartbreak, coming home, and growing old that still manage to sound utterly modern." - East Bay Express

"It's music that makes me want to laugh and cry and dance and think all at once! It's a wily celebration of left coast feminine moxy!" – Jim White

"... Grab a copy of Loretta Lynch’s new album “Concrete and Ether”... as much vino and tequila as you can carry ... Let the music of Loretta Lynch whirl you into a frenzy, dance around the living room in full view of the neighbours, and exorcise those demons." - Americana UK

"Of the hundreds of acts that have graced my stages, from Epic Arts Studios to the "How Berkeley!?" Festival to the Outdoor Cinema, nobody does it sweeter than the gals of Loretta Lynch. Beloved by fans and bartenders alike, these urban cowgirls can lasso me in with their mesmerizing harmonies and catchy songwriting anytime!" - Justin Katz (Program Director, Epic Arts/Producer, PARADOX media)

"Above the fiery moutains and the stormy clouds. Above the noisy sidewalk. Harmony gets kept by three humming birds. Know them as Loretta Lynch" - Jesse DeNatale

"... Heart-melting three-part harmonies ... mandolin-plucky bluegrass, soulful murder ballads, and lush singer-songwriter folk." - SF Weekly

"Loretta Lynch's sweet facade -- gorgeous vocal harmonies, seemingly-pleasant melodies, exceptional musicianship -- masks their richly nuanced dark underside of regret, loss, murder, revenge, and bad drunken decisions made in late-night bars. That they do it with such beauty (and the odd smack of a really barbed sense of humor and a toe-tappin' tune that's difficult to dislodge from one's head) marks them as being in a class with very very few acoustic musicians. And if only more lyricists had their way with language..." - KALX radio
Michele Kappel (Yours Truly Michele)
Michele Kappel (Yours Truly Michele)
Michele Kappel (pronounced Kuh-Pell) began singing onstage as a teenager, when she donned a head-to-toe white leotard and crooned “Sex in Wetsuits” as part of the multi-media avant theater company Impossible Industrial Action. While she’s covered a lot of musical and literal ground since her formative performative days with that fearless Mid-Atlantic theater troupe, the Baltimore native’s latest venture, Yours Truly, Michele, may best capture the heady mix of influences and experiences she can bring to any party simply by showing up. With a sound infused with 60s pop, shadowy torch songs, and touched by Americana Roots-Rock, it is truly Michele Kappel’s own brand of music.

After her time with Impossible Industrial Action, Kappel followed her muse across the United States to California, co-founding the Garage-Pop Alt Rock band The Kirby Grips (Sympathy For The Record Industry), performing behind the drum kit on national stages including at Noise Pop and CMJ. When The Kirby Grips paused for an indefinite amount of time, Kappel picked up the ukulele and guitar, and started writing her own melody-rich songs, inspired by influences as diverse as Squeeze, Ray Price, and the Spector Wall of Sound. Soon, she was performing as the ukulele-toting folk pop artist Tippy Canoe, who channeled not a little of Patsy Cline and Billie Holiday. More recently, Kappel incarnated as one-half of the close-harmony, country-tinged, impeccably decked out duo, Heartache Sisters and was behind the drum kit with classic country band Laura Benitez & the Heartache.

YTM, however, puts Kappel’s style, substance and well-honed musical sensibilities front and center. “No matter your mood, you’ll walk away with a smile. It’s cheaper than therapy." Tony DuShane at The San Francisco Chronicle wrote of a Kappel-Stone performance, which by turns can evoke Debbie Harry, Erin McKeown, and the aforementioned Cline.

Now based in Oakland, readying her first YTM recording project while organizing shows for The California Roots Union and booking one of San Francisco’s best listening rooms, The Lost Church, her finger isn’t just on the musical pulse, it’s an integral part of the heart that keeps the pulse beating.

If her career thus far has prepared her for anything, it’s fun and adventure. And Kappel is ready for more. “I don’t really care just where we land, just as long as we go. Just as long as we go.” she sings on “Other Side of the Door.”

Discerning music lovers are advised to go with her.
