Dandu
Dandu
Dandu's music is inspiried by jazz, hip-hop, and funk; resulting in a sound that can be described as wonky groove music.
The Denver based trio consists of Dylan Johnson (drums), Ben Weirich (piano and synthesizers), and Sean Dandurand (bass guitar). The musicians have been playing together for over 5 years, and share a love for odd music. They've shared the stage with Victor Wooten, John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette, Thundercat, John Medeski, Dennis Chambers, and many other musical greats.
Black Sheep Brass Band
Black Sheep Brass Band
Individually, the Black Sheep Brass-ers were born with instruments internal, making sonorous music from the first laugh, cry and baby gurgle. Collectively, cosmic forces joined these musical magicians throughout the past eight years, in the avenues and alleys of Downtown Santa Rosa, to give birth to something holy knew of their own. From the phattest hip hop barnyard beats, to the funkadelic wild of Jungle Jazz, the Black Sheep surely have a rhythmic recipe to make your feet move to unimaginable improvisations, no matter the wild beauty, beast or domestic animal you may be. So, come all you Concrete Jungle Cats and Country Kittens, let us celebrate the majestic unfoldings of space and time through brass, beats and harmonious rhyme.
Adam Lowdermilk Trio (of Kuckaw!)
Adam Lowdermilk Trio (of Kuckaw!)
Feeling a tinge of envy towards the traditional “organ trio” format of B3 organ, guitar, and drums, Oakland bassist staple Adam Lowdermilk (Kuckaw!, Strike Iron, Soji Odukogbe) decided to take action and form his own version of the formation. There was no question who to call: Left hand key-bass master Kevin Wong (Lyrics Born, Jazz Mafia) as a tag team partner for the low end, and gospel chops whizz James Small (Fantastic Negrito, Sal’s Greenhouse) as the final piece of the puzzle. Rooted in Jazz, Boogaloo, and Soul, the three Bay Area rising stars no doubt bring the Funk, whilst maintaining a wide dynamic range and musical sensitivity not often associated with the high energy, power trio aesthetic.
