John Brothers Piano Company
John Brothers Piano Company
In two lines....The enchanting sounds of John Brothers Piano Company know no era, no limits, no restraint. Speakeasy stride, swing, early jazz and Latin spice make you fall in love with them over and over and over again.
Longer Bio, if needed http://www.johnbrothers.net/blank-mpvleThe innovative sounds of The John Brothers Piano Company are the colors of timeless energy – early jazz meets stride and swing. But the definitive quality of this dynamic quartet does lies not just in genres they bend or blend, but in a strong notion that the audience has been the primary inspiration in the development of their sound. From their first sidewalk street show – hauling their Wurlitzer spinet to the nearest subway station – to a weekly appearance at an after-hours speakeasy, to theaters and festival stages throughout the country. The John Brothers Piano Company have already taken their music from the streets of the West Coast and the East Coast to the stages of SFJAZZ Festival, First City Festival, Stern Grove Festival, Coup de Grâce Saint-Prime, Edwardian Ball, Monterey Jazz Festival and Outside Lands. The skillful compositions and playful dynamics unfold new musical possibilities with unrelenting energy, elegance, flowing through everything they produce.

Dr. Abacus
After nearly two-decades of bottom-shelf-bourbon-fueled research, the good Doctors Abacus have honed their unique brand of cartoon jazz into a musical melange, most often resting on comic timing and a poignant exploration of musical conversation and improvisation. Think Mingus meets Motley Crüe meets Scooby Doo; six cooks in a Raymond Scott-inspired audio kitchen tossing tenor, alto, trombone, vibraphone, bass, and drums at each other like late night banter at a drunken family reunion. Featuring members of Rosin Coven, East Bay Brass Band, Hamsa Lila, Katzenjammers, and the mythical Church of You, please come pay these doctors a visit.
